Our Materials
The materials we choose, and why
Every material in a PawHaven product is chosen for performance, durability, and environmental impact.
Full-grain leather
Our leashes and collars use full-grain, vegetable-tanned leather from a tannery in Portugal that has been operating since 1923. Vegetable tanning uses plant-based tannins instead of chromium, making it safer for workers and the environment. Full-grain leather is the strongest and most durable cut — it ages beautifully and lasts for decades.
Organic cotton
Our textiles use GOTS-certified organic cotton, grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. It is softer, more durable, and better for the soil and the farmers who grow it.
Memory foam
Our beds use CertiPUR-US certified memory foam, which is tested for content, emissions, and durability. It is made without ozone depleters, heavy metals, or formaldehyde.
Stoneware ceramic
Our bowls are hand-glazed in a small studio in Portugal. The stoneware is fired at 2,200°F, making it chip-resistant, dishwasher-safe, and free of lead and other toxins.
Merino wool
Our sweaters use 19.5-micron extra-fine merino wool from New Zealand. Merino is naturally temperature-regulating, moisture-wicking, and odor-resistant. It is machine washable and lasts for years.
Recycled materials
We use recycled polyester, recycled rubber, and recycled down wherever possible. Our packaging is 100% recycled and recyclable.
